Dreaming

[Mei]

Mei thought for a second. Maybe she could make Shane a Duke. Mei knew he would be a good one. She purred slightly at her kits and let them sleep in peice. Mei sat up and kept her kits warm with her tail. Mei didn't really know how to take care of kits so she let her instinks take other slightly.

Shane sat quietly next to Mei. He didn't say anything. He just sat there, hoping for her to say something. He flicked his tail around and looked at his paws. He hoped the she-cat didn't think he was a dunce.

[Mei]

Mei then said, "I think you would be good for the job as the Duke. Though it isn't my decision." Mei looked to Shane. She licked her lips and thought for a little about Shane being the duke. Mei licked the idea she just needed to talk to Pyro.

[.:Shane:.]

"Thank you, Mei," Shane smiled, surprised at the suggestion. How did she know what he had hoped for? But he was thankful anyway. "The kittens look sleepy," he quipped, even though they were already snoozing... he just had nothing else to say. "Maybe you should take a nap too. It would be better for the kittens and for you to nurse when you're all well rested. Besides, labor is hard work."

[Mei]

"I guess." Mei said. She layed down and closed her eyes. It would be a while before she would fall asleep. Mei sighed and opened her eyes, "I don't know if I could fall asleep." Mei licked her chest and stared into the setting sun.

"Just try, Mei," Shane said softly. He turned and looked at the sun himself. It looked beautiful at the time. He wished that it would look more beautiful tomorrow. Things always looked better to him when he was happy.

[Mei]

"Ok," Mei murmured. She closed her eyes and rested her head softly on her paws. Mei soon fell asleep. Dreams came to her. They were horrible dreams. Mei woke up suddenly, it was morning time she sighed and licked her paw. The dream she had will always haunt her. Mei licked her paw again. The dream was about her father. Mei didn't include that she saw her father's death. Mei shuddered slightly, she would tell cats she trusted very well what she saw. Mei will never forgive her father for what he had done. Yes Raincloud is alive, but if she sees him it will be too soon. Mei licked her sleeping kits and looked around for Shane.

Shane saw that Mei was awake and scrambled down form his old post atop the tree he had climbed the first time. "I see you're awake," he smiled. "I caught some fish." He gestured with a wet paw to a stack of still-flopping trout that he'd gotten from the river.

"There should be enough to fill us both."

[Mei]

"Yes." Mei breathed. She stood up and walked to the fish and grabbed one. She started to walk back to her kits. Mei's mouth watered hungerly. Mei reached her kits and droped her fish. She layed down and started to eat her fish. It would help her give milk to her kits. Mei the said suddenly, "I had a horrible dream." She sighed and looked down at her paws.

"Tell me, m'lady," Shane prompted. He want to make sure Mei was all right. After spending the night with her and witnessing the birth of her first litter, and helping her recover, he was convinced he should help her. After all, she thought pretty highly of him. She even had thought of making him her duke, but didn't have the authority too (he supposed the king did that, but he was away somewhere). He sat down quietly, hoping to comfort her.

[Mei]

Mei looked to Shane. "This is something that happened in my life that will always huant me forever." Mei looked to the ground, "My father I have known my whole like is a cheat and a lier. He was cheating on my mom. He was in love with another she-cat. She is dead now. I know this because I used to spy on him when ever he left us. That is how I learned my since of direction and how to find my way home." Mei sighed and continued, "Well the last time I spied on him he was with a pergnat she-cat. It looked like they were mates. It sounded like it too. The she-cat asked Raincloud about our other. He seemed to hardly remember her. Then he told the she-cat that he never really did love Sugar, that he just wanted to breed with her." Mei sighed and looked to the sky real quick. "I know him better, I think he did have a soft spot for her. I ran to Bella, then we left. Though Bella got hit by a monster the night we left. I was scared and I soon came to the Western Territory hopping to be happy and free from my father. I think I am wrong." Mei sighed and looked to the ground. A single tear went down her face and landed on Sakura who meowed slightly but soon fell asleep.

After hearing the story, Shane was greatly saddened. He walked up to Mei and licked her softly, hoping he wasn't making her embarrassed or uncomfortable. He just wanted to make sure she was all right. "What happened to the kittens? Or did you find out?" he asked softly, looking down at Sakura pointedly. "Even though they shouldn't have happened... it's important to me that they're okay anyways."

[Mei]

"My brother and sisters died with my mother. And the other kittens I am not sure about." Mei smiled at Shane. She licked him back and rested her head on the ground and sighed. Mei added, "I know my father will kill me if no one kills him because I have a strong bond with him that can't be broken." Mei looked to the ground sadly. She felt that her father had killed Sugar but Mei wasn't sure.

Shane jumped back, turned away, and spat. "What a bastard," he hissed. "He killed your mother? Someone ought to give him what he deserves," he spat, unconsciously unsheating his claws. He wondered if he had the strength to do the deed. "How old is your father?" he asked, hoping that more age meant less strength, along with less wisdom.

[Mei]

"I think he is in his prime. I am not sure." Mei smiled slightly at Shane. "I do think he killed her." Mei looked to the ground sadly. She stood up and walked to Shane. "He is very strong. I don't know." Mei sighed and licked Shane back. She could tell he would help her.
